Piano lessons in Paris 14th
I teach one-to-one lessons in Paris 14th, online, and in some cases at the student’s home in Paris. My teaching covers classical repertoire, jazz and improvisation.
There is no fixed route. One student may want to return to Chopin, another to read more fluently, understand harmony, accompany a standard or finally start improvising. The lesson begins with that actual goal.
What we work on
Technique, sound, reading, rhythm and ear training are not separate subjects. I connect them to the music being studied, so that a technical problem also becomes a question of phrasing, harmony or listening.
Classical, jazz and contemporary music
These three musical worlds can be studied separately or allowed to meet over time. Repertoire is chosen in relation to the student’s goals: sound, reading, ear training, harmony, rhythm or improvisation.
Classical
Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninoff and beyond. The work concerns the score, but also sound, phrasing, technique and musical structure. Depending on the level, sight-reading and theory can be developed directly at the keyboard. More about classical piano lessons.
Jazz & improvisation
Standards, harmony, voicings, transcription, rhythm, phrasing and improvisation. Ear training and learning the language are central, including work influenced by Barry Harris, without making written music the centre of the lesson. More about jazz and improvisation lessons.
Contemporary music
Pop, rock, soul, songs, film music or repertoire chosen by the student can all be used as teaching material. When no suitable score exists, I can prepare an arrangement or transcription adapted to the student’s level and current objective.
Adults, children and teenagers
I teach adult beginners and returning pianists as well as children and teenagers. The goals — and therefore the teaching — are not the same for each.
